Agora University publishes the Alexandria School Journal, an Orthodox Christian Academic Journal once a year in the Fall. Articles submitted to the Journal must adhere to the Chicago Manual of Style.

Call for Papers
Scholars, theologians, and students are invited to submit paper proposals for volume 7 of the Alexandria School Journal. The Journal seeks to engage with articles that address topics from an Orthodox perspective in all its aspects whether spiritual, biblical, liturgical, historical, linguistic, patristic, dogmatic, and practical. The theme for this edition is “Lessons from 2020.” It is clear that 2020 is a particularly challenging year: the Coronavirus global pandemic and the brutal murder of George Floyd bookended the spring season, a season symbolizing new life and resurrection. The contrast proves stark. Paper proposals that approach contemporary challenges are welcome. These challenges include, but are not limited to, political fragmentation and church unity, race and ethnicity, and abuse.
Abstracts of no more than 200 words are to be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org before August 15th, 2020. Invitations to submit full-length manuscripts will be sent before August 25th, 2020. Full manuscripts, approximately 3500-5000 words in length and adhering to the Chicago manual of style, must be submitted by November 25th, 2020. Volume 7 of the Alexandria School Journal will be published in December 2020.
The Alexandria School Journal (ISSN 1687-9902) is published once a year. The subscription price which includes delivery by air where appropriate is:
- $100 for institutions (print and electronic);
- $75 for institutions (electronic only);
- USA and Canada: $25 per year (Print Only)
- Worldwide: $50 per year (Print Only)

Publish With Us
If you are interested in publishing a monograph with us, please follow these guidelines:
- One recommendation letter from an academic advisor or a scholar well acquainted with your work (for first time authors)
- CV/ Academic resume
- Book proposal (see below)
- Names of two academic reviewers (for dissertations only)
Your book proposal should address the following three areas in as much detail (and as realistically) as possible: project description, detailed synopsis, and target market.
The first area should include a working title and subtitle, a summary of the work’s argument and main themes, a compelling abstract, and date of completion. The detailed synopsis must include the work’s table of contents, chapter summaries, and a working bibliography. The synopsis should indicate the basic structures of the argument and how it is furthered throughout the work. The third section of the book proposal should answer questions of intended audience, the academic need for a published book on the topic and how it fits in the larger academic conversation. Tell us how the proposed work is distinctive from other participants already in the conversation and the works upon which it builds. In addition, indicate how the work fits in with other Agora University Press publications.

If you are interested in publishing a popular work with us, please follow these guidelines:
- One recommendation letter from a reviewer
- Book proposal that addresses the following: the type of book and its popular need, how the work will address this need, your intended audience, and your projection for its success. A detailed synopsis of the work along with the table of contents, chapter summaries, and a working bibliography. Tell us how the proposed work is distinctive from others on the market and how this work will fit into Agora University Press publications. Finally, be sure to include a writing timeline and a projected date of completion.

If you are interested in translating a patristic, theological, pastoral, etc. piece with us, please follow these guidelines:

- Book proposal that addresses the following: the intended work to be translated and its importance for your intended audience, how this work will fit into Agora University Press publications and its projected success, a detailed synopsis indicating the work’s table of content, chapter summaries, as well as a projected date of completion along with a writing timeline.
